My Story
After I had my first baby, I remember feeling so overwhelmed, not understanding certain things that were happening to my body, feeling completely exhausted, and feeling alone, with little guidance from my OB besides "lose weight, try to breastfeed, and eat a healthy diet."
Breastfeeding was so HARD. I hated my new body so much that I refused all pictures of myself with my newborn baby girl. And I struggled alone with postpartum depression and anxiety, because at that time I had thought it was "baby blues" and a normal part of being a new mom.

I tried to lose weight like I did when I was younger, by watching what I ate, monitoring calories, and creating food rules, like no dessert during the week (*insert side eye). But after a year postpartum, I had only lost about half of the weight, felt uncomfortable in my body, and still couldn't connect with my new self or love the things that I used to.

I knew that I needed to figure out a solution....

After talking with other new moms, joining a virtual support group, seeking help from my OB (who referred me to a Pelvic Floor Physical therapist - lifesaver!!!) and taking a deep dive into research on postpartum and breastfeeding, I slowly understood what my body had really gone though during postpartum. The feelings that I thought were "normal" were not, and I felt like I finally learned the tools that I honestly needed during my pregnancy.

I used the knowledge I learned on stress, sleep disturbance, HORMONES, and nutrition for recovery, breastfeeding, and mood/mental health, along with habits of mindful eating and joyful movement, and prepared myself adequately through my second postpartum journey. I was able to properly FUEL my body for breastfeeding, exercise, and the daily energy need of motherhood.
This is why I started Run Like Mama Nutrition (officially changed to Bethaney Chamberlin Nutrition DBA Run Like Mama Nutrition): to teach fellow mamas the tools that I learned (how to use nutrition to heal faster after baby, feel energized, create nourishing breastmilk without sacrificing their own body stores, stabilize mood, improve gut health) to ultimately feel good and confident during this new stage of life.
Let me help YOU find balance with food, energize your new mama body, grow confident in your body, and learn to choose foods that will help you feel like yourself again. Set up a FREE 15 minute exploration call today.
